THE EXPIRY DATE

When SK-II reached out to work and share their latest campaign video, 'The Expiry Date' I felt this would be the perfect opportunity to discuss about the societal pressure women face regarding age. We all feel the ticking time clock constantly reminding us to achieve things by a certain age. From going to university, getting the job, to finding the man, to buying a house, and to having children - our paths seem to already be predetermined.

In my case, being born in a traditional Chinese family heavily influenced my career choices.  I've always felt the pressure to follow the conventional path. (It's either a doctor, a lawyer or an accountant or you're not worth mentioning haha). I would be lying if I said I wasn't anxious about starting my own creative space and sharing my work to thousands of people. But trust me, having lived almost a quarter of my life made me realise that you can absolutely live the life you want and be your own girlboss.

Let's remember the importance on our own journey, I'm with SK-II, let's #ChangeDestiny

  26. I can definitely relate to feeling like the clock is ticking. Coming from a Filipino-Chinese upbringing, I'm so glad that I moved to Australia where people respect that women can do what they want like chase careers before ticking off other items on their "list".

  27. Such a beautiful and powerful campaign. I know that there are societal pressures and we're at such a great age where abnormal, change, independence and boundary pushing has been seen more positively. Love this so much.
